I'm very picky about where I hike these days. No more 'looking down' on never ending mountain views (unless out of a window) or rocky, hot and dusty desert trails. No more picking my way through HUGE boulders that looked like big rocks from a distance...No more rocky ledges with storms approaching or streams to cross in the rain! These weren't "a few of my favorite things" as whats-her-name would sing.
Nope. A walk to the mailbox or through the hilly trails nearby will suffice. Short trails in the desert are okay provided I have too much water and the car is parked 1/2 mile away at most!- and with no killer bees buzzing around unless my husband is safe in the car. Bees like him!
Deb:)
Ahhhhh, a hike! :-) I use to love to do that....but am not up to it now for sure. Sounds like you've done a lot of traveling and found good hiking spots all over the map! :-) I also use to like to do bike trails.....basicly, now I am out of shape and don't do much at all. Hmmmmm...guess I ought to do something about that though. ;-)
Hey Deb,
That picture was taken in Arizona, in the Sabino Canyon. One of our favorite areas to hike. This was early in the hike, note my smile:) We hiked to the Seven Falls. By the end of the hike back, well, let me just say, it wasn't pretty. I think it was 7 miles to the falls. Which means of course, 7 miles back w/a good 25-30 lbs extra body weight and a back pack.
That particular hike was a breeze compared to a hike, climb in Oliver Lee in New Mexico, with 3 RC colas.... and, Oliver Lee was NOTHING compared to climbing a 14er in Colorado. Didn't think I would make it back from that one.
Hey, thanks for the compliment!
Deb:)
Hey Deb...for some reason I can't respond to you the other way...so I will copy what you said here and respond here. :-)

Hi Deb,
I've been receiving daily messages from 'Pathways of Light' that expand on the Workbook section of ACIM. Are you familiar with it?
No, where do you go to read them or sign up? I am reading a book now called Path of Light by Robert Perry and it is very good! Don't know if that is the same or not though. :-)
I 'm on lesson 7 today and the message from Pathways was so good.
That's great! If I would have stuck with the lessons as I should have, I would be on lesson #160 today...I know that because I get them delivered daily to my email! I go in spurts, but now can see the value of them and wish I had stuck with it...oh well, it is what it is...I am working on it!
This is becoming a greater and greater experience and am so happy that you had/have'The Awakening Mind' on your sight, ready for me to explore.
Oh, YES...that is a great site! Did you read the comments I left in response to your comments on that one blog post? I referred something to you in that comment...thought you'd enjoy it!
I loved the book :-). Since I have been "out of the box of religion" since 1996, I already knew most of what he was saying....but I thought it was well researched and laid things out very plainly and easy to understand. Personally, I DO think everyone ought to read it....so that their eyes WILL be opened! ;-) It is hard for me to sit by and watch as others remain "stuck" in religion and in the "dark" on so many levels.
And yes, I do understand how one could be hesitant to recommend it....a couple of years ago I doubt that I would have recommended it myself....and all because I would have been "afraid" of what "others" would think about "me". If that makes any sense. ;-) Gotta hang on to "my" reputation...at all costs! UGH! Now, I desire to see others set FREE! :-) Even if I am only planting seeds for awhile.
As far as Jesus not being God in the flesh....maybe you misunderstood? What I got from it as well as ACIM is that Jesus was just like one of us....never claimed to be God himself.....but he was and is "the Christ"...as all of us are....and make up the Son. (God only has one Son) He was the firstborn of many brethren....he was one with the Father as we all are, etc. He either was born without an ego/carnal nature, or he transended/overcame it...that is what was unique about him.....and he said that we could too....and even greater things.
I LOVE ACIM!!!! And I will stop now because I might have already gone over the length limit!
Hmmm, I am putting this here because it wouldn't fit the other way. You can delete it after you read it if you want to :-).
And I am always open for more discussion if you'd like to talk some more! I could even give you my email address if you want it. :-)
Have you been to David Huffmeister's webpage? He has tons of mp3's there to listen too....lots of good stuff. The ACIM book includes everything you need. It has the TEXT, WORKBOOK FOR STUDENTS, MANUEL FOR TEACHERS, CLARIFICATION OF TERMS, and SUPPLIMENTS...all in one volume...available at Amazon or Borders or most book stores...and even on-line for FREE. :-)
I understand where that guy was coming from when he made the comment about the Harry Potter book ;-)...I use to be there myself, and oh sooOOOooo happy that I am no longer there! :-)
Hope you have a great time visiting your friend!!! We can chat more when you get back.
I am sure you know that it's a "small world" :-). My friend Dena sent me a copy of Tim King's blog yesterday and I noticed that you also posted there! And even mentioned David Hoffmeister!!! I had just told Dena about him the night before. Anyway, just wanted to stop by and tell you that I LOVE to listen to David....isn't he just so full of Love??? I have learned a lot by listening to him and doing ACIM these past few months!
I saw where you posted on Cynthia's thread....I just want to let you know that she is in New York and won't be back for a couple of weeks. She went to visit her dad who isn't doing real well. I just didn't want you to think that she was ignoring you or anything like that. :-)
I am just stopping in to let you know that I am NOT ignoring you around here! I found out last week that my headaches are from eyestrain....yes, I finally have to get glasses for reading and computer. For years I have used the cheap readers...but they are no longer working for me. Anyway, I am way behind here.....have wanted to comment on a couple of things you have written....but am waiting for my new glasses :-).
I am also on too many groups as it is...so I have been limiting my computer time.....but want to get back to it as soon as I can.
Thanks for sharing all the good stuff you have been sharing! :-)
Oh, and I have been wondering how your son is doing?
Our other Deb and I didn't like the eerie ghost figure that appears when someone doesn't have a picture. We found out that we could change it and use our own picture so Deb picked the hummingbird picture.
If you like to feed hummers, you've come to the right place. Deb has several feeders at her house. My hubby and I also have feeders set out for birds and we started last year putting up a hummingbird feeder. Deb has been advising us on what she has learned about it.
Hi Deb :-)....from one "Deb" to another! Now there is '3' of us in this group!!!
I am pretty sure you will enjoy our group.....and I am looking forward to getting to know you better......just chime in on the FORUM whenever you are ready....or post a BLOG....or even start your own topic on the FORUM......or even a GROUP of some kind. And, if you have any questions....please don't hesitate to ask! :-)
Welcome Deb. We're glad you're here. Take your time, look around and join in as you feel comfortable. I hope you'll share some of your journey so we can get to know you better.
